Meet My Support System
The support my family provides reminds me how blessed I am.
My wife, Ashley, and I live in Angola. Ashley and I work relentlessly to follow our passions in helping people around us, and truly doing what we can to assist wherever possible. Along with working in healthcare for the last 18 years, Ashley has worked with the coroner’s office for more than 13 years, and she’s recently taken on a role as a CASA volunteer with Northeastern Indiana CASA. Ashley understands the commitment and dedication that a role as important as Sheriff requires, and she’s excited to support my desire to hold this elected position.
Ashley and I have blended our families, and we are proud of our 3 children—Trent, Mara, and Kenna. We have welcomed John into our family, Mara’s husband, and we now have a sweet granddaughter we are proud of too!
My family is the foundation of my support system, and I’m honored to have their backing. They have watched me invest my blood, sweat and tears into my career, and they are ready for the county to have a leader that is committed to maintaining order and protection for every citizen of Steuben County.

Emerick for Steuben County Sheriff was able to host a Sheriff-Level table as a way to continue to support the needs of the men and women in law enforcement throughout Steuben County. I look forward to being able to find more ways to support law enforcement as your 2026 elected Sheriff.
